Bio
This journal was created when it turned out that I wouldn't be able to write my usual journal, which is [info]christabel_daae in English anymore. So now this is to be my English-language LJ, and that one my Russian-language one. Still, up to March 2009 almost all my posts in that one were in English - so if anyone is much interested in my old book review or photos from my travels or a crazy idea to keep an old-fashioned travelling journal during my trip around Hungary in 2007 - feel free to have a look. I write this at the top also because I might sometimes comment you from that account - so mind, [info]christabel_daae and [info]lydia_asher are one and the same person.

I'm a student of medicine (already a B.Sc., in two years a full MD) at National Medical University (that is, of Ukraine; situated in Kyiv, its capital). However, most of my interests are far above medicine, biology, biochemistry, etc: I adore reading and a writing (though I write as fast as a tortoise), I play the piano and study academic (in other words, opera-like) singing (mezzo-soprano, taking lessons once a week, so progressing pretty slowly). I am somehow linguomaniac - I adore languages, philology, etymology, etc. So, we may say, there are three things of special meaning for me: literature, or the written word in general; music and languages - my two mother tongues, that is Ukrainian and Russian and all the foreign languages I try to study or just learn something about.

I'm a great fan of musicals, especially European ones, especially German-language ones. Operetta also goes in this category. So probably the vast majority of my entries would be somehow about that. I also just adore Hungarian musical theatre and Hungarian performers - but the fact that I hardly understand the words makes my interest not so intent as it could be.

I adore history, especially of "the long 19th century". If I were to choose more precisely - that would be either late Victorian and Edwardian period (yeah for the Forsyt es, the characters of Wilde's plays, Sherlock Holmes and Irene Adler, Dracula, Prince Florizel and the Ashers) - or Austro-Hungarian empire and Bavaria from the inauguration of Franz-Joseph to the very end of la Belle Époque. Recently I've been particularly after the latter. The very words Wien and Budapest make me craving to get there...

And the last words to be written here. I have a bad habit of writing sometimes about myself in the third person. So don't be distracted: Alexandra, Alexa, Sasha, Saschchen, Sándricska and other probable similar names are no one but your humble servant. Alexandra is my real first name (which I do like pretty much), though I am also used to lady Nerwen, Christabel, Christine and Lydia and Integra Hellsing and Mina Harker and...
